2008/2009 Recruiting Information
(Stats through games as of 12/25/07)
This will be Coach Blaise MacDonald's seventh recruiting class at UML.  The only senior that'll be graduating  during the summer of 2008 will be Kelly Sullivan.  This might be the smallest class that Coach MacDonald will bring in.  Players that have signed an NLI (National Letter of Intent) will be highlighted in red. Players in this class cannot sign an NLI till November of 2006.
UML's goalie of the future committed early, in early December of 2006, the River Hawks received a verbal commitment from T.J. Massie of Cushing Academy.  Massie finished the 2006/2007 season (his junior season) with a 92.7% save rate, giving up 59 goals while making 700 saves.  The 5'11", 170 pounder (born 5/3/90) was born in Lexington, MA.  So far in the 2007/2008 season, Massie has a 94.6% save rate and a 1.70 GAA.

UMass Lowell picked up two commitments on the same day from current
Burlington (OPJHL) Cougars teammates Michael Budd and Tim Carr.  Carr (6'0, 178) is the son of Lowell Chief Mike Carr ('83), a member of the UML Atheltic Hall of Fame as the leading scorer (279 points) in the hockey programs history.  The younger Carr was born 12/14/89, and calls Burlington, ON his hometown.  He's in his third year with the Cougars having no points in 16 games, his first year with Burlington (05/06).  In 2006/2007, Carr had a 1-33-34 line in 49 games with 56 PIM.  So far during the 2007/2008 season, Carr has a 8-20-28 line in 33 games, with 55 PIM.

Michael Budd, born 4/16/89, is a 6'1", 190 pound forward.  Also from Burlington, the youngster is in his second full year with the Cougars, having played just one game in 2005/2006.  In 06/07, he finished with a 22-26-48 line with 22 PIM in 47 games.  So far this year, Budd has a 8-14-22 line in 20 games with 22 PIM.  Budd has also been named a member of the Canada East World Junior A Challenge roster.  He's the only Lowell recruit who will be participating.

UML added another commitment from an '89 forward from the
Milton (OPJHL) IceHawks David Vallorani.  Born 3/27/89 in Hamilton, ON, Vallorani is in his second year with the IceHawks, having finished the 06/07 season with a 24-41-65 line in 49 games.  Vallorani is only 5'8, but appears to be a solid 180 pounds.  He is currently tied for 6th in the league with a 20-37-57 line in just 32 games.

Expected 2007/2008 freshman
Matt Ferreira will actually be enrolling at UML in time for the 2008/2009 season.  The youngster unfortunately had to push off his entrance to Lowell due to having to endure brain surgery.  He's currently playing at Brampton (OPJHL), and has a 36-12-48 line in just 31 games.  He leads the OPJHL in goals this year.

Also, ex-UMass Amherst sophomore
Sam D'Agostino will be transferring into UML for the 08/09 season.  He will have two years of eligibility left at UML.  D'Agostino (born 7/15/86) only played in 7 games for UMass his sophomore season, not earning any points.  The 6'0, 200 pound forward is from Medford, MA.

Defenseman
Tim Corcoran of the EJHL's Bay State Breakers has chosen UML over recruited walk on spots reportedly at both BU and BC.  The Milton, MA native is 6'1, 190" and is in his season with the Breakers.  He has put up a 0-9-9 line in 23 games this year, with 22 PIM.
