2001/2002 AWARDS & RECOGNITION
Week Ending October 13, 2001

Hockey East Honor Roll: Two members of the French Connection, senior Laurent Meunier and freshman Baptiste Amar made the Honor Roll thanks to their contributions in a 7-3 season opening win vs. Niagara.  Meunier had 3 assists and Amar added a goal and an assist in his first collegiate game.

Week Ending October 20, 2001

Koho Player of the Week:  Sophomore Jerramie Domish notched two goals and two assists helping Lowell to their first 3-0 start since the 93-94 campaign.  Domish had a 2-1-3 in a 7-2 win at BC, and added an assist in a 6-0 whitewash at home vs. UConn.

Hockey East Honor Roll: JuniorEd McGranehad a 2-2-4 line in Lowell's two wins.

Week Ending October 27, 2001

Hockey East Honor RollAmar's two assists helped him be named to the HE Honor Roll, as did his work in helping to kill 8 Providence power plays in a 4-3 Lowell win.

Week Ending November 3, 2001

Hockey East Honor RollMcGrane scored two goals, one shorthanded in a 6-3 loss at Maine.  It was Lowell's first loss of the year.

Week Ending November 10, 2001

Defensive Player of the Week:  Senior Cam McCormick's 30 save performance in shutting out UNH 1-0 earned him the award this week.  He stopped at least 3 clear goals from happening in arguably his best performance as a River Hawk.  It was also McCormick's second straight shutout at UNH.

Week Ending November 17, 2001

Defensive Player of the Week: McCormick earned the award for the second straight week, helping Lowell to a 1-0 and 3-2 weekend sweep over sister school UMass Amherst.  The 1-0 shutout was McCormick's fourth of his career.

Hockey East Honor Roll:  Sophomore Anders Strome had a natural hat trick, helping pace Lowell in it's 4-0 win over Army.  Strome scored the first three goals of the game for Lowell, which won it's fourth straight.

Month of November, 2001

Cam McCormick was named the ITECH Goaltender of the Month for November with a sparkling 5-0 record, with a 98% save rate and an almost perfect 0.43 GAA.  He had four shutouts during the five starts, only once giving up 2 goals in a game at UMass Amherst.

Week Ending December 1, 2001

Defensive Player of the Week:  For the third time in four weeks, McCormick won this award by shutting out Union on the road 3-0 for his fourth shutout of the year,  and coming up with a huge win against nationally ranked BU at home 3-2.

Hockey East Honor Roll:  Senior Tom Rouleau's 2 goal and one assist performance over the two wins helped him be on this list.

Week Ending December 8, 2001

Hockey East Honor RollMcCormick had 27 save shutout during a 4-0 shutout at St. Lawrence.  This was his fifth shutout of the year.

Week Ending December 29, 2001

Defensive Player of the WeekMcCormick had a 27 save shutout and a tough 27 save loss in the Wells Fargo Denver Cup, in a 2-1 loss.  The shutout was his sixth of the year.

Wells Fargo Denver Cup All-Tournament TeamMcGrane had a goal and an assist over the weekend, including scoring a short handed goal for Lowell's only goal in the loss to Denver.

Month of December, 2001

For the second straight month Cam McCormick was named the ITECH Goaltender of the Month with a 3-1 record, a 96.1% save rate and a 1.00 GAA.  He had two shutouts during the four starts, giving up 2 goals each in the other two games.

Week Ending January 5, 2002

Hockey East Honor Roll:  Senior Yorick Treille's 2-2-4 game helped Lowell in their 7-4 pasting of Colgate on the road.

Week Ending January 12, 2002

Koho Player of the Week:  Junior Darryl Green notched a goal and an assist in each game of Lowell's sweep of BC (3-2 on the road, 8-4 at home), helping Lowell sweep BC.  Green had a +3 for the two game series.

Hockey East Honor RollMcGrane had 3 goals in two games, including his fourth shorthanded goal of the year in a 2-2 tie at Merimack.

Week Ending February 2, 2002

Koho Player of the Week:  Thanks to a hat-trick, McGrane helped end Lowell's five game losing streak in a 5-2 win over Merrimack.  McGrane leads Hockey East with 14 goals (in 15 games).  He also had a goal in a 2-1 loss to Brown.

Hockey East Honor Roll: Domish had 3 assists in the Lowell win.

Week Ending February 9, 2002

Hockey East Honor Roll: McGrane continued his hot scoring streak, notching a 2-1-3 line in helping Lowell tie two key league games.

Week Ending February 23, 2002

Hockey East Honor Roll: Meunier's two goal performance in a 2-0 win at Merrimack elevated UML into 4th in Hockey East.  Senior Jimi St. John's 14 saves in the game helped him secure his first career shutout.

Week Ending March 2, 2002

Hockey East Honor Roll: Junior Mark Concannon scored twice to help Lowell secure home ice in a 4-1 win at NU, and then added another goal in a 6-1 pasting of Providence.  Meunier had four points in the two wins and St. John stopped 47 of 49 shots he faced in the two Lowell victories.

Week Ending March 9, 2002

Defensive Player of the WeekMcCormick was named as Co-Defensive Player of the Week due to his performance in a Quarterfinal series win over NU.  McCormick kept Lowell in the game in Game 2, coming in while Lowell was down 3-1, and not allowing a goal on 13 shots (NU's last goal was an empty net goal)  in a 4-2 NU win.  McCormick then stopped 22 of 23 shots in the 3-1 series clinching win to help Lowell head to the FleetCenter.

Hockey East Honor Roll: Concannon led River Hawks scorers with a 1-3-4 line in the series.  Treille scored goals in both Lowell wins (5-2 in game one) and added an assist as well.

Week Ending March 16, 2002

Concannon was named to the All-Tournament team.

For the 2001/2002 Season

Ed McGrane was Second Team All-Hockey East at forward as well as honorable mention in the Best Defensive Forward category during the Hockey East award ceremony, while Cam McCormick was named as a honorable mention goaltender.
