2000/2001 AWARDS & RECOGNITION

Week Ending October 15, 2000

Hockey East Rookie of the WeekLaurent Meunier.  Meunier scored two goals and added an assist in his first collegiate game, helping Lowell to a 6-1 win season opening win over UConn.

Hockey East Honor Roll:  Sophomore Ron Hainsey added two assists in the win.  Senior Captain Brad Rooney added one goal and two assists.

Week Ending October 22, 2000

Koho Player of the Week:  Junior Yorick Treille notched two goals, including the game tying goal with 17 seconds left in the second period in Lowell's 4-3 win over 11th ranked RPI.

Hockey East Honor Roll Hainsey assisted on the game tying and game winning goals.

Week Ending October 29, 2000

Hockey East Honor Roll Meunier had a goal and an assist in Lowell's 5-2 loss to Northeastern.

Week Ending November 4, 2000

Hockey East Honor Roll: Hainsey helped lead Lowell back from a 4-0 deficit with 3 assists, before the Hawks succumbed to UMass Amherst 5-4 in OT.

Week Ending November 11, 2000

Koho Player of the Week: Hainsey had five points on the weekend, a goal and two assists in Lowell's first Hockey East win over BU 4-2, and two assists in Lowell's 5-4 loss at Merrimack.

Hockey East Honor Roll: Freshman Darryl Green had a goal and two assists on the weekend.

Week Ending November 18, 2000

Hockey East Honor Roll: In his first collegiate start, freshman net minder Chris Davidson shutout Army 7-0, stopping all 9 shots he faced.  Sophomore Ed McGrane scored the game winner and added one more later in the same game.

Week Ending November 25, 2000

Hockey East Honor Roll:  Three Hawks were rewarded for their play during a weekend split against Holy Cross (win) and Union (loss).   Rooney had four assists during the Holy Cross win, while Hainsey had two goals and two assists on the weekend and  Meunier has 2-3-5 on the weekend.

Week Ending December 2, 2000

Defensive Player of the Week:  Junior netminder Cam McCormick was named co-defensive player of the week (along with his counterpart Ty Conklin of UNH) for his play in helping Lowell tie #4 UNH twice 2-2 and 0-0.  It was Lowell's first ever scoreless tie.

Week Ending December 9, 2000

Hockey East Honor Roll:  Thanks to a 7-2 blowout of Colgate, three Hawks were named this week.  Treille (2-1-3) , Meunier (0-3-3) and Hainsey (1-2-3) who scored the game winner on a blast from the point.

Week Ending December 30, 2000

Hockey East Honor Roll:  McGrane (3 points) and netminder Jimi St. John (36 saves) were named to the Honor Roll thanks to their performances during Lowell's 5-1 win over Alabama Huntsville in the consolation game. 

Week Ending January 7, 2001

Hockey East Honor Roll: St. Johnallowed just 3 goals in helping Lowell win two big conference games at Northeastern (2-1) and home against Merrimack (4-2).

Week Ending January 14, 2001

Hockey East Honor Roll:  Junior Tom Rouleau scored a hat trick in a 5-3 win at Union helped him be named to the league Honor Roll.

Week Ending January 21, 2001

Defensive Player of the Week: Hainsey helped hold BU to just 21 shots during an upset 4-1 win at BU, and also had 2 goals and an assist in a 5-4 loss at Brown.

Week Ending January 28, 2001

Hockey East Rookie of the WeekMeunier won the award for the second time, scoring a goal and adding two assists in a 3-2 win over UMass Amherst.

Hockey East Honor RollHainsey's 3 assists on the weekend helped Lowell gain 3 valuable points on the weekend.

Month of January 2001

ITech Goaltender of the MonthSt. John's 4-1-1 January earned him this award, helping Lowell turnaround their season.  He finished with a 1.82 GAA for the month and a 91.8% save rate.

Week Ending February 4, 2001

Hockey East Honor RollMcGrane (3 goals), Treille (3 assists) and St. John (61 saves on 66 shots) helped Lowell in their split weekend, losing at BC 4-3, but winning the Alumni Cup over UMass Amherst 4-1.

Week Ending February 11, 2001

Hockey East Honor Roll: Junior Dan Fontas had 2 goals in Lowell's 3-2 win over BU, helping Lowell sweep the season series for the first time.  Treille (1-2-3) and St. John (47 saves on 51 shots) also helped during the weekend, as Lowell also beat Merrimack 5-2.  St. John also recorded his first assist.

Week Ending February 18, 2001

Hockey East Honor Roll:  Once again, St. John (37 of 38) and McGrane (3 goals, including 2 short handed) made the Honor Roll.  Their performances helped Lowell gain a valuable split on the road at Maine, winning 3-1 after losing 6-2 the previous night.

Week Ending February 25, 2001

Hockey East Honor Roll:  Assists on all four goals by Meunier were not enough to help Lowell overcome two one goal losses to PC.

Week Ending March 2, 2001

Hockey East Honor Roll:  A 6-2 season ending win at Northeastern was due mainly to the work of St. John (37 saves), McGrane (1 goal, 2 assists), Hainsey (2 ppg) and freshman Peter Hay (2 goals, including one shorthanded).

Week Ending March 9, 2001

Defensive Player of the Week: St. John stopped 63 of 65 shots in helping Lowell come back and win their quarterfinal matchup vs UNH.  St. John allowed just one goal in each of the last two games as Lowell pulled off the upset at UNH.

Hockey East Honor Roll: Senior Jeff Boulanger scored both goals in Lowell's game 3 series winning game.
